Labour market workshop

26.10.2018

The Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) organised a labour market workshop on the 25th and 26th October 2018. This event is aimed at researchers, doctoral students and other stakeholders in the region who are analysing different aspects of the labour market. The workshop focuses on empirical research based on microeconomic data or survey data on companies and employees. It also aims to promote and create opportunities for joint research projects between different institutions.

The workshop was attended by almost 50 participants, the majority of whom came from local institutions, such as the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), the University of Luxembourg, STATEC, the Employment Development Agency (ADEM), the Ministry of Labour, the General Inspectorate of Social Security (IGSS) and the University of Trier. Participants from more distant universities, such as Strasbourg, London, Udine, and national central banks in the euro area, including those of France and Ireland, also attended.

The keynote address was given by Professor Michel Beine of the University of Luxembourg, who spoke on "Migration intentions and the role of integration policies". The conference was composed of six sessions, with authors presenting 14 papers, each followed by discussions.
