The silver collector coin commemorates the Council of the European Union and is issued on the occasion of the Luxembourg presidency of the Council.


The obverse bears the building of the European Council, the European flag, the indication "Conseil de l’Union européenne" and the face value 25 €. The reverse depicts HRH the Grand Duke Henri, as designed by the Luxembourg artist Mrs. Yvette Gastauer-Claire, and bears the indication "Lëtzebuerg", the euro symbol "€" and the year 2005. Minted in "proof" quality, the coin has a smooth edge, a diameter of 37mm, a thickness of 2,2mm, weighs 22,85gr and has a fineness of 0,925 silver. The coin was minted by the Mint of Poland.
The coin is legal tender in Luxembourg with its nominal value set at 25 €.
