13.02.2026 - Fraud – misuse of the name and logo of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL)
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that we regularly receive reports of attempts to misuse the name of the BCL, its logo and the identity of its staff or management. It may also happen that malicious individuals use email addresses or websites that appear to originate from the BCL.
If you receive an email that you find suspicious, do not click on any links it contains, do not open any attachments and do not respond to any invitations or campaigns.
If someone contacts you claiming to work for the BCL and to have money belonging to you, this is a scam. Individuals cannot have an account with the BCL.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is leading to a proliferation of highly sophisticated fraudulent videos and websites that may feature BCL staff or management promoting investment programmes. AI can be used to create realistic videos and audio recordings or to make fake phone calls.
If you suspect that a website purportedly created by the BCL is fake, please inform us at suspicious@bcl.lu.
If you think you have been the victim of fraud on such a website, contact the authorities. You can find more information on this subject here: https://cyberfraud.lu/
As a general rule, be wary of any unexpected emails or phone calls, and any websites, videos or other forms of communication that ask you to take immediate action (e.g. to transfer money urgently) or whose content seems “too good to be true”.
Never transfer money without checking the recipient and never disclose information such as your bank details, ID card details or any other personal information.
The BCL cannot be held responsible for the misuse of its name, logo and address in connection with fraud against the public.

We recommend to contact the BCL in case you consult videos mentioning the BCL that might seem suspicious (info@bcl.lu).
