International investment position at the end of March 2016

27.06.2016

The Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) informs that, compared to the last quarter of 2015, Luxembourg’s external financial assets decreased by 65 billion euros (-0.7%) to reach 9 405 billion euros at the end of the first quarter of 2016. External financial liabilities decreased by 66 billion euros and reached 9 389 billion euros at the end of the first quarter of 2016. Luxembourg’s net international investment position, which corresponds to the difference between external financial assets and liabilities, thus increased by 1 billion euros and reached 17 billion euros at the end of the first quarter of 2016. This improvement of the net international investment position is broadly attributed to a positive impact of transactions.
