Evolution of credit institutions’ balance sheet
The Banque centrale du Luxembourg informs that, based on preliminary data, the aggregated balance sheet of credit institutions reached 984 270 million euros on 30 April 2025, compared to 986 950 million euros on 31 March 2025, a decrease of 0.27%.
On the assets side, this is due mostly to the monthly decrease of loans towards other sectors and loans to other banks and deposit-taking corporations. Net interbank lending, i.e. the difference between interbank loans and deposits, increased by 2 003 million euros, or 0.81%, to reach 250 072 million euros at the end of April 2025.
Loans to resident non-bank customers decreased by 1 086 million euros, or 0.94%, between March 2025 and April 2025. Over twelve months, these loans have increased by 2 839 million euros, or 2.53%.
